The single greatest achievement of the 20th century was landing humans on the Moon. When most people picture it, they think of Cape Canaveral and Houston. But here in Huntsville, we gently remind people of something the rest of the world too often forgets: the Saturn V rocket that carried humanity to the Moon was designed and built right here.
Houston had Mission Control. Huntsville did the hardest part. It built the ride.
Apollo stands among the greatest achievements of America's first 250 years, and it began in the Rocket City. Rocket City Space Fest is the annual celebration that finally claims that legacy, a growing, multi-day festival shining a bright spotlight on Huntsville's extraordinary role in space, past, present, and future.
And while Apollo is history, Huntsville's role in space is not. From Apollo to Artemis and beyond, the spirit that powered the Saturn V is still alive today, across NASA, Redstone Arsenal, commercial space, our research institutions, and the next generation of explorers in our classrooms and at Space Camp.
Rocket City Space Fest is organized by the Rocket City Space Fest Foundation, a nonprofit organization in formation dedicated to celebrating Huntsville's legacy in space exploration.

Why 2026
As America celebrates its 250th birthday, we have a once-in-a-generation chance to remind the country, and the world, that one of the nation's proudest achievements was born in the Rocket City. Rocket City Space Fest launches alongside Huntsville's America 250 celebration, and our vision is to grow it into a destination event on the scale of South by Southwest.
